This course is designed to help adults improve their reading, writing, proofreading, editing, and revising to prepare for college entrance exams and the general expectations of college English. 

We will cover the basics of grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, paragraph development, and will eventually write effective essays with clear ideas, smooth transitions, and logical support.  We will practice planning, research, prewriting, and organizing our writing.  We will learn to write different types of essays, to properly format them, and to cite sources. Learning to proofread for punctuation, usage, content, and support will be emphasized. 

No class 02/16/21.

This is a live online course via Zoom, and asynchronous (self-paced) on Schoology, a learning management platform.

Mathematics: College Prep Algebra

This course is perfect for adults who need to (1) prepare for success on college entrance or licensure examinations; including the Accuplacer, HESI, and PRAXIS, and/or (2) earn a high school credit in the subject. The classroom atmosphere is fun and relaxed, and includes direct instruction, hands-on activities, and online learning.

Registrants should be somewhat confident in operations with arithmetic before taking this course. Please register for Math for Life & Work or tutoring beforehand to brush up on those skills. Alternatively, a score of 240+ on the Arithmetic Accuplacer is highly recommended. Upon successful completion, students can earn one high school credit.  Live online or in person. 

No class 02/17/21 or 04/21/21.

If you want to practice strategies for reading and writing in a safe, friendly environment, this is the course for you.  Reading and writing are complex.  The teacher will share the skills necessary to understand what you read, and to build your vocabulary and your confidence with writing.  Using articles, books, vocabulary exercises and online computer applications, increase your ability to read, write, remember, and feel confident in the world.  This class is offered live online or in person.  Ongoing enrollment.
