Find out what it takes to train to be an IT help desk professional.  If you've ever thought of exploring an career in Information Technology, join us for this session.  Thanks to a collaboration, Ellsworth Adult Education has the opportunity to offer a Computer Support Specialist Micro-credential.

This Winter, you can earn a WorkReady Credential and IC3 Digital Literacy Credential and, starting in February, you can enroll in our CompTIA A+ Certification course.  This pilot is making these opportunities available at no cost. These are industry recognized and respected credentials.  This is a live online information session.

Google Docs: Write it Down

Google docs is a free invaluable and easy to use online tool similar to Microsoft Word.  It’s free, accessible from all devices and is super easy to share.  Learn how to:

  • create documents;
  • master useful formatting functions;
  • share documents with others;
  • other features as time permits. 

This workshop will introduce you to these features and share resources for further learning.  This is a live online class.

No class 02/18/21.

You’ll need a web-based Gmail account for this Google workshop, and will need to know your account username and password.  If you’re not sure what this means, please contact us and we’ll be glad to assist you!

Google applications are free and are a practical way to learn programs without investing in software!

College Readiness Exploration

This is an 8-week blended learning class, designed for you to explore your college readiness.  The first and last classes will be “live” (in person) at Ellsworth Adult Education, and the intervening classes will be completed online, with the option to complete work with help in person. 

You will increase your readiness by completing activities and assignments that help you understand yourself as a learner.  You will learn some of the steps necessary for college preparation.  You will practice the reading, writing, and digital skills necessary to succeed in your early college courses.  You will learn about important study strategies to effectively navigate your college classes.  You will better understand the expectations of college instructors and how to meet these expectations.  The requirements will include readings, assessments, videos, online discussions, and essays.  Live online and in person.

First in person class 02/01/21, last in person class 03/29/21.  No class 02/15/21.

When you register for this class you'll receive a follow up contact from our advisor to enroll you in the program and assess your skills, goals and interests.

College Prep English

This course is designed to help adults improve their reading, writing, proofreading, editing, and revising to prepare for college entrance exams and the general expectations of college English. 

We will cover the basics of grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, paragraph development, and will eventually write effective essays with clear ideas, smooth transitions, and logical support.  We will practice planning, research, prewriting, and organizing our writing.  We will learn to write different types of essays, to properly format them, and to cite sources. Learning to proofread for punctuation, usage, content, and support will be emphasized. 

No class 02/16/21.

This is a live online course via Zoom, and asynchronous (self-paced) on Schoology, a learning management platform.

Human Biology with Lab (Interest List)

This live online course presents the major human biological principles including biochemistry, cell biology, DNA and genetics, human anatomy and physiology, including directional terms and orientation, and more. 

Students will experience the process of science through the conduction of virtual dissections, microscopy and other laboratory experiments, and research.  Live weekly classes will primarily meet on Zoom and labs will be completed at home.  

Upon successful completion, students will earn one high school diploma credit.
