Math for Life and Work

with Vanessa Richards

Free More Info

If you don't use it, you lose it!  This is most notably true about math. Most of us read and write almost every day, but how many of us calculate percentages regularly enough to make it stick in our brains?

Work with our math teacher to change your perspective on math, get rid of your negative feelings and anxiety, and get tutoring targeting your specific needs and goals. You can use technology and other learning resources to practice the skills you learn directly from your teacher and other learning resources.  You will learn how to study on your own and start habits to make you confident and successful in math and other subjects.  Learn free online tools and how to apply math in real life situations.  Vanessa Richards has 20 years of experience teaching all levels of math, and has been dubbed the “Math Therapist.”

You will master concepts and computations in whole numbers, fractions, decimals, percentages, ratios and proportions, negative and positive numbers, powers and roots, order of operations, applying basic formulas, and/or intro statistics, algebra...all skills to help you reach your goals.  This is an in-person class; ongoing enrollment.

Become a Digital Literacy Volunteer!

with Vanessa Richards

Free More Info

Make a difference in this digital age.  The pandemic has increased dependence on technology and Ellsworth Adult Education has many people seeking individual support with digital devices (computers, smart phones, and tablets.)  Almost all of these learners are functioning at a basic level. Our experience shows that computer classes are challenging as everyone has a different device, software, learning style and goal.  Over the past year, we have started a Computer Cafe - designed as a computer lab of sorts - where people can come to meet individually or in small groups to learn from one another and an experienced teacher.  We have found this approach to be very effective.  In order to grow this program, we need volunteers to assist the instructor to provide the individualized instruction.

Our current hours are Mondays, 11a-1p and Thursdays, 4p-6p. We are hoping to expand if we get enough volunteers!  We will provide you with some training, support and resources. We are organizing information/training sessions to share information and resources.  If you’re interested in learning more, register for this course or reach out to us at adultedinfo@ellsworthschools.org or 207.664.7110.
