March 30, 2020 Update

Our thoughts are with all the people in our community impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.    These are very unusual times. In light of related developments and based on the continued monitoring of the evolving situation, including information from the scientific community and state and local partners, Superintendent of Schools, Dan Higgins, has announced that Ellsworth School Department school buildings would be closed to students effective, March 16, 2020 through Friday April 17, 2020 to be followed by the regularly scheduled April vacation week (April 20-24, 2020). This extension of the closure period coincides with the civil emergency period and school vacation establishes our new target date for the re-opening of our schools as Monday April 27, 2020. Please know, however, we will continue to monitor new information as it becomes available, relying on guidance of the Maine CDC and Maine Department of Education and assess whether conditions make it possible to reopen our schools on April 27, 2020. Therefore all Ellsworth Adult Education on-site activities have been suspended until April 27, 2020.  Stay tuned for more information as it comes available.  This page will be updated regularly.

Ellsworth Adult Education instructors and staff are working to arrange alternate ways of learning for our academic classes, workforce readiness and workforce training courses.  We will be reaching out to all adult students who have been participating in our programs regularly this winter/spring to make individualized learning plans. If you haven’t heard from us and want to know how you can reconnect, please email, call 207.664.7110 (leave a message and we will call you back promptly), or text 207.613.6460. We are eager to see you in person, but that’s not possible at this time.

Enrichment programs are being postponed indefinitely and we will be contacting everyone in the next several days about the status of the courses.   Again, please contact us with questions by phone, email, or text.

Thinking about going back to school?  We are interested in keeping learners engaged and also actively recruiting learners who can start face-to-face work with us when our buildings are open to students.  There are many steps you can take to get started with us during this time. We are eager to make arrangements for phone meetings, Google hangouts, FaceTime or other online options to connect with people interested in continuing their education with us.   Please contact us via email, call 207.664.7110 (and leave a message), or text 207.613.6460.

On behalf of Ellsworth Adult Education staff I wish you a healthy Spring and hope you’ll reach out to us to let us know how we can support you.
